Share your story

Every story starts somewhere.

The courage to share your story could change someone's life. You can use your name or stay anonymous. You decide what goes in, and you can ask for it to be taken down at any time.

Three ways

Choose a prompt and see where it takes you

01

Q & A

Answer a few short questions. Skip any you want.

  • What were you going through?
  • What was the hardest part?
  • What helped, even a little?
  • What would you tell someone in the same place right now?
02

Journal prompts

Pick one prompt and write from there. No length limit.

  • The moment I knew something had to change was...
  • What I wish people understood about what I went through is...
  • A small thing that got me through a bad day was...
  • If I could talk to myself back then, I would say...
03

Creative

A poem, a letter, a photo, a song, a drawing. Whatever form your story wants to take.

  • Paste the words below, or describe the piece and we will follow up about sending the file.

Your story

We care. Share your story.

Write as much or as little as you want. We read every one and reply to each.

Setup note (remove when live): set shareFormAction in src/data/site.json to your form provider's endpoint. See README.

Questions

Before you share

Do I have to use my real name?

No. Write Anonymous in the name box and we will publish it that way. We still need an email so we can check the story with you before it goes live.

Will you change my words?

Only lightly, for length, clarity, or spelling. We never change what you meant. You see the final version before it is published and can say no.

Can I take my story down later?

Yes. Email us and it comes down. No questions.

Who sees what I send?

Only the URFAB team. We do not sell or share your details. [CONFIRM: how long submissions are kept.]

What if my story includes suicide or self-harm?

You can share it. We may ask to leave out specific methods, because that can put readers at risk, and we will add a line pointing to support. The focus stays on what happened and what helped.
